Problem in exporting Report with multiline textbox to Excel

Hi,

I am facing a problem while exporting reports to Excel.
My report contains a multilined textbox - which is displayed correctly in Report Design.

Following is code of report Statistics contents to be displayed in a textbox: ="Report Statistics " & vbcrlf & "Date : " & Format(Globals!ExecutionTime, "MMM dd yyyy tt”) & vbcrlf & "By : " & User!UserID

Problem Description: In Excel - one extra line is added between each line

Sample output of report exported in Ms Excel 2003:

Report Statistics

Date : Jun 12 2006

Time : 6:53:23 PM

By : COMPANY\EMP ID

Correct Output Required:

Report Statistics

Date : Jun 12 2006

Time : 6:53:23 PM

By : SERWIZSOL\P97006

Configuration:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3
Microsoft SQL Reporting Services 2000 SP2

If some one is facing similar problem or knows the solution, please let me know.

I tried your expression ="Report Statistics " & vbcrlf & "Date : " & Format(Globals!ExecutionTime,"MMM dd yyyy tt") & vbcrlf & "By : " & User!UserID

Everything worked fine for me. I added a text box and set the expression to above text and it works perfectly. Was there anything else you were doing?

Problem in Export to PDF or Excel

My report contains some Korean wording. When I export to PDF, the Korean
word appear as ?. Then I export the report in Excel format, there is no
problem in the Korean wording. But when I try to print it, the default page
orientation is 'Landscape' and there is default left and right margin no
matter how I adjust the report size in reporting services. Can anybody help
me ?You should be able to fix the orientation to landscape by switching the size
of the page (8.5x11 versus 11x8.5).

problem in connecting to server after restore of master

Hi all,
even though sysdatabases contains a row with [name] = 'master' I get
the follwoing error message when sending commands to the db engine:
Msg 911, Level 16, State 1, Server BEQV288H, Line 1
Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'master'. No entry
found
with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly.
Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Server BEQV288H, Line 1
Could not find stored procedure 'sp_attach_db'.
[DBNETLIB]ConnectionCheckForData (CheckforData()).
[DBNETLIB]General network error. Check your network documentation.
What can I do?

Did you follow the below rules?
1. Stop MSSQLServer and SQLServerAgent services.
2. From a command prompt, enter this command:
sqlservr.exe -m
3. Run Enterprise Manager to restore the master database from the backup

yes I did, though it is SQL Server 2000. Then I started in sqlservr -c
-f -T3608 mode cause the master db comes from a different system
environment and I have to change some system entries in sysaltfiles and
detach some databases.
I tried this before in Windows Server 2003 environment and now I try to
do it in Windows Server 2000 environment.

Problem getting rid of nondistinct records

Hello,

I have a problem with which I need some help. I have a table called "user" that contains the userid, name, and address. However for users with multiple listed addresses, there are duplicate records...example:

userid, name, address:

0001, John Smith, 123 main rd.
0001, John Smith, 456 second rd.
0002, Bob Jones, 435 another rd.

I need to combine all the duplicate records into a single entry by concatenating the adresses. (I.E. "0001, John Smith, 123 main rd/456 second rd")

I can select the duplicate rows by doing:

SELECT * FROM user
WHERE userid in (
SELECT userid FROM user
GROUP BY userid
HAVING COUNT(*) > 1 )
ORDER BY userid ASC

Does anyone know how I could concat all the duplicate rows into one and then delete the duplicates? I dont care which order the addresses are concatinated in. Any ideas?

Andrei GirenkovFor normalization concerns you should AVOID to do what you ask. A better solution, but requires you to modify the architecture of your database, is to make an external address table:

User Table:

0001, John Smith
0002, Bob Jones

Address Table:

0001, 123 main rd.
0001, 456 second rd.
0002, 435 another rd.

To solve your problem, anyway, i think you have no other way to use cursors, since the number of equals row you need to concatenate will vary.|||Thanks for the reply, but I already solved the problem. I ended up doing it with for loops. It took a long time to execute but it's a one time operation.

This could be for you or anyother reader.. its an example I put together that would show you efficient ways to point out duplicate records from within a database table. Also applies to most relational database that support the Structured QUery language (SQL)

go|||Manowar is right. Your database is already denormalized enough. I predict a post six months from now requesting help parsing all those concatenated addresses into separate elements again.

awahteh: I suspect your query would be more efficient using Andrei_Girenkov's linked subquery method, though the optimizer might convert your syntax to this plan prior to execution anyway. If it doesn't, then you will end up executing your subquery once for every record in your main table, while Andrei_Girenkov's method only runs the aggregate once.

Problem extracting data from multiple list boxes

I have a report that has a header section with three detail sections. The header section contains information pertinent to a person and a situation. The detail sections each contain information pertinent to the situation and person in the header section. I have been able to format the data correctly but I am unable to have the unique information per person extracted for the three detail section. I am using data from four stored procedures, one for the header information and three for each detail section.

Are you currently grouping on person in your table? You can add detail grouping on situation, which'd group the rows with the same situation together per person. Just right click on the detail row, choose "Edit Group" to to bring up the detail grouping dialog, and type in the group expression (=Fields!situation.Value).

I'm not currently using tables due to the fact that the data is staggered on the report. However, with your suggestion of grouping on the person and situation I believe that I could put the person and situation data into tables and leave the other information in a list box. I am including a sample of the report output for your reference.

|||If you have added detail grouping on situation, you shouldn't be getting different detail rows on the same situation. What do you have in the outer groups? It'd help if you can attach a copy of your rdl.|||

|||Looks like you have one top level List (list1) and four tables inside of the list. The dataset for list1 is "dsHeaderData", since all inner data regions will use the same dataset, all your tables will use "dsHeaderData" as well. Is this the intended behavior?|||

It is not, three of the tables have their own individual datasets. I changed the rdl to include a subreport for the three detail tables without any grouping passing the situation from the subreport to the main rdl and this corrected my problem.
